Hyderabad: As India take on Australia in the fifth ODI at Hyderabad, all eyes will be on Sachin Tendulkar, who is on the verge of creating another landmark in ODIs. He is now just 7 runs short of becoming the first player ever to reach 17000 runs in ODI cricket.
Sachin had a great chance of achieving the milestone at Mohali and the entire crowd was waiting for that historic moment. But, they were left disappointed when Aussie spinner Nathan Hauritz trapped him leg-before in the 19th over.
TV replays showed the ball was missing the leg stump but umpire Ashoka De Silva thought otherwise and raised his finger much to the dismay of the packed crowd.
The diminutive Mumbaikar, who made his ODI debut Pakistan in 1989, is already way ahead of his contemporaries when it comes to accumulating runs.
Master blaster is the first batsman to complete 10,000 in ODIs, besides belting out maximum number of centuries (44).
