Srinagar: Services cricket team has decided not to travel for Tuesday’s season-opening Ranji Trophy match to Srinagar citing security reasons.
The Ranji Plate Division match was scheduled held at Sher-e-Kashmir stadium, which last hosted a one-day international against West Indies in 1986.
Reacting to Service's stand, Farooq Abdullah, President, J & K Cricket Association said that he was disappointed and would take the case to the Prime Minister and BCCI.
The BCCI, meanwhile, said it will investigate the matter, as why the services team refused to play the match, and take the necessary action.
From the reliable sources, it is known that BCCI had banned Services from playing further matches till the full investigation of the matter is complete.
